The way I’ve been led to believe, and also do, is that anything that can get our affection, that we can accord any kind of honour, devotion, respect and whatnot can and will become an idol.

Say a picture of a deceased loved one, it is framed and put on the wall in a “honourable” spot, we look upon it and reminisce about that person, look upon it with affection, speak to it, may start to kiss the picture, and attach ourselves to it; some even light a candle or burn incense to it etc. is wrong – I’ve seen people doing this.

Like Yahusha doesn’t want us to pray or worship, reverence or honour an image of Him for example ( we can all agree it’s wrong ), the same shouldn’t be the case with other people’s “images”. We attach ourselves to a dead object, fashioned by hands.

Having pictures of ourselves or others, in a photo album or a device as a memory of them might not be an issue.

Say a picture of a tree for example, if it doesn’t get us to “honour” it, attach ourselves to it, I don’t think it’s wrong – if its purpose is beautifying the house. But if we are like those people worshiping “mother nature”, then it’s an idol.

The palm trees and flowers and fruits in the temple were to beautify it in my opinion, nobody would accord any more “respect” to them than is meet.

All these images ( posters ) of “heroes”, that kids ( and not only ) have in their rooms, devices etc. are definitely wrong, these “heroes” are just the same idols worshiped from old under different names and looks ( there’s extensive research on these things as well ). Toys of the same too, are idols.

Pictures ( posters ) of celebrities, or other famous people are idols too, the way some of us “reverence” these is unquestionably idolatry. Read Wisdom of Solomon to see how these came to be.

Pictures of idols, definitely wrong, I even deleted all my pictures with christmas trees or decorations in them that I had from before. Also stopped posting and even following groups or people who constantly post these pictures of idols, it’s become an offense to my eyes to be honest, I abhor them.

Anyway, this is what I’ve been led to believe, after praying about it and searching into it more deeply. Maybe not everyone can accept this, but for me, Abraham was ready to sacrifice his son for Yahuah, can’t I at least forsake some images?

We must also be careful with what we’re decorating our home with, again, there’s extensive research online ( can provide some sources if interested ) about objects we have around the house not knowing they are idols.

Say, any “African art” is abominable, statues, paintings, bracelets, etc. some people creating these things actually don’t sell them until a shaman/”doctor” does certain ceremonies for spirits to inhabit these objects.

We must be careful with anything eastern ( from Japan, China, India etc ) like statues of certain “g.ds”, paintings of dragons, talismans, souvenirs etc.; dream catchers, new age books, tarot cards, paintings, crystals, rings, bracelets, necklaces and so forth. I don’t think I even have to mention crosses and icons.

Really, there’s so many idols and cursed objects we can bring in our homes it’s unbelievable. Evil spirits attach to these objects.

For us to truly be set-apart unto Yahuah, it is needful we look into all these things, and get rid of whatever may be considered an idol, anything Yahuah abhors, then He will truly baruk us and our homes.

There’s more to being set-apart than we know, or even care to know.

But for those of us forsaking this world for The Kingdom’s sake, surely giving up on these things is an easy thing to do.
